About the PCI Trojans
Trojans Look to Top the Standings Again

The 2022  Trojans are here to regain the glory days. Hoping to reclaim the provincial champion days of the early nineties this next generation of Trojan players seems to have the stuff that dreams are made of. Deep in scoring abilities, and a defensive squad that understands the importance of when and where to stay at home, and a hot young goal tending squad, the Trojans appear to have all the pieces to reclaim some long awaited banners. This years new coaching squad also seems poised for victory. Combining years of experience and wisdom, this Trojan bench is worth keeping an eye on.

Where we came from ...

WIlf Rellinger came on as coach in 2007 and committed a two year bid to rebuild the Trojans image.  It was a rough start but by the second year the squad was top 10 in the province and number one in the zone by Christmas.  The boys headed to Europe that winter for the first time and scored a wealth of experience on the European ice surface and had some notable wins.  Wilf unfortunately was deployed to Iraq shortly thereafter and the boys failed to rally back - going on a slide for most of the remaining season.

The following year was plagued by a lack of interest and the young roster struggled at the bottom of the standings.  Coaching changes and older players playing AAA cost the Trojans.  A few young players committed to a three year venture with Mark Essay and then Andrew Cherkas the following year to build at all costs.  The squad paid with blood sweat and tears but graduated in 2012 with a 'better than the year before' record for three straight years.  IN 2012 the squad finished in the top spot for AAA/AAAA schools in the zone and Cherkas and Essay were named Zone 4 Coaches of the Year for their tremendous turnaround with the Trojans program.  The boys ended the 2012 season with a valiant effort against the provincially ranked #2 team the Kelvin Clippers in their wildcard berth to provincials.  Filling the Oakville arena with fans and Trojan pride - the boys lost 4-2 with an empty netter to end their best season ever.

And while good things come in threes - sometimes it takes three years.  Dave Grantham took over our coching duties in 2013/14 and started the quest for another best season ever.  Building the team saw some ups and downs and third year 2015/16 - the Trojans lit up the scoreboard with another epic season finishing with a .700 record and a semi final loss  to the ultimate champions.

PLagued by the COVID pandemic - all hockey slowed down while the world took an isolation time out. As we carefully emerge from this we hope everyone stays safe and sound.
