The battle was tight all night, with both sides trading chances like two kids bartering Pokémon cards they secretly want to keep. End-to-end rushes, defensive stands, and more “OH COME ON!” moments than a group chat of Americans watching the USA try and beat Canada in Olympic Ice Hockey!

But the real storyline? The return of Nic Hofer - fresh off his one-week “goon suspension,” which he now insists was actually a personal wellness retreat. And honestly… maybe it was. Reports confirm he spent the week in intense anger management classes in the guidance center with Mrs. Bertholet, found his center doing hot yoga at CanadInns, and allegedly applied so many essential oils before puck drop that teammates described him as smelling like “a eucalyptus diffuser in skates.”

Whatever he did, it worked. Zen-Mode Hofer floated into the game with the serenity of a monk and the scoring touch of someone far less peaceful. By the final buzzer, he’d unleashed a Hofer Hattrick, lighting the lamp so often the timekeeper considered installing a dimmer switch. The Trojans rookie now leads the team in goals!

If the Trojans needed more offense, Jaxon Olson brought it in bulk - like a Costco-sized pack of points. He was everywhere - setting up plays, creating chaos, and generally behaving like someone who decided the scoresheet was his personal canvas.

After the game, Jaxon gave full credit for his monster night to a somewhat unexpected source: Aunt Mandy.

“Honestly,” Jaxon said, still peeling tape off his shins, “I drew my inspiration from Aunt Mandy and her holiday-dinner stories about the dream team - her, Deane Patterson (now Harkness), and Tara Pettinger. They wore numbers 2, 3, and 4 and were apparently unstoppable in fastpitch. Some might say legends… actually, everyone does.” It’s a family tree full of firepower, and the coincidences are getting spooky. “It’s crazy,” Jaxon added. “Deane is Jace's mom, and now the two of us are wearing 13 and 14. We’re definitely going to light some things up before we graduate.”

And because no great performance is complete without a friendly jab: “My dad likes to think I got my mad skills from him,” Jaxon laughed. “But we all know the truth—thanks, Mandy!”

With inspiration like that - and a points explosion to match - the Trojans might want to invite Aunt Mandy to a few games!

Balanced play, big moments, and newly enlightened goal-scoring machines - just another day in Trojan hockey.
